Following the emptying of the Lac de Guerlédan fishing was suspended whilst new stocks had time to acclimatise and grow. Fishing is due to start agin this spring and should be very good. All other activities, such as sailing, waterskiing, canoeing etc have continued and as always it is possible to enjoy the splendid walks around the lake's perimeter. For more information, including prices and availability visit the Tourist website. The lake can also be enjoyed by taking a boat trip (with or without a meal).

For those in seek of a challenge the Trail de Guerlédan will be held on 8th & 9th June. On Saturday there are 13km and 26km races for adults as well as a number of short races for children. On Sunday there is a 63km race. The terrain is not flat!

The centre of Brittany is now regarded as a major fishing destination since, as well as the Lac de Guerlédan, there are a number of other lakes, rivers and streams which together offer many different types of fishing. For more information you can now look at the federation-peche website or the Bretagne Terre de Pêche websites where you can also purchase licences online.

Passing through Caurel is an old railway line which now forms part of the longest national signposted cycle route, the Vélodyssée, which connect Roscoff to Hendaye in northern Spain.

The market at the Abbaye de Bon Repos continues to provide a great outing and on Sunday mornings between Easter and the end of October there is a lively market next to the river.

Every year in August The Abbaye holds a spectacular night time play called the Son et Lumière.

In June The Interesting Car Club will hold its "Big Weekend". A large collection of vintage and interesting cars will be on display and various entertainments will be available.

The Carhaix music festival "Les Vieilles Charrues" is being held between 18th and 21st July. This years line up includes Tears for Fears amoungst its 39 acts.

The Interceltic festival at Lorient is being held on 2nd to 11th August and this year it is being hosted by Galicia. The programme of events will soon be available when you will be able to access it on the offical website.
